We are delighted to be invited to participate in Gloucester Choral
Society's Parry Festival, where we will be presenting a programme
dedicated to Hubert Parry and his pupils, Gustav Holst and Frank Bridge.
This concert features Parry's beautiful Songs of Farewell. Written during
World War I and the final years of his life, they are a fitting eulogy to
his significant contribution to English choral music. We also include Holst's
haunting setting of sacred Hindu texts, Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda,
and Two Part Songs by Frank Bridge.
To mark the centenary of the ending of the First World War we are very excited to be joining forces
with The Oriel Singers,
Gloucestershire Symphony Orchestra
and Cheltenham Youth Choir in a performance of Jonathan Dove's moving work, For An Unknown Soldier,
with James Gilchrist as the tenor soloist.
The concert will also include individual 'sets' from the orchestra and each of the choirs in the
first half, including performances of Ralph Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis,
two of Parry's Songs of Farewell, and Stabat Mater by Alissa Firsova.

Saturday 14 July 2018, 7:00pm - Gloucester Cathedral
For our second major collaboration of the season, we will be performing
Hector Berlioz's monumental Grande Messe des Morts along with the
Cotswold Big Sing Group as part of the Cheltenham Music Festival.
Berlioz's 1837 masterpiece demands huge forces for both chorus and orchestra,
and we are delighted to be joining singers from choral societies across the
area for the entirety of this breath-taking work as well as performing the
semi chorus movement, Quaerens me. The concert will be conducted by
Adrian Partington, Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral,
and accompanied by the British Sinfonietta.
Sunday 15 July 2018 - Gloucester Cathedral
We will be the guest choir for all services at Gloucester Cathedral.
