70th Anniversary Evensong, Afternoon Tea and Concert

Saturday 2nd March 2019 - Gloucester Cathedral

Celebrating 70 years of the Saint Cecilia Singers

3.30pm: Are you a former member of the Saint Cecilia Singers? We would love you to join us in starting our 70th anniversary celebrations by singing Evensong with us in Gloucester Cathedral at 4.30pm - please arrive at 3.30pm for rehearsal beforehand. Please contact us ASAP if you would like to do this.

4:30pm: Evensong, sung by current and past members of the choir. This will include Howells' Gloucester Service, an anthem by Sumsion ("They that go down to the sea in ships") and introit and responses by our founder, Donald Hunt. Open to all, no ticket required.

5.30pm: Everyone is very welcome to join us for a sparkling afternoon tea in the Chapter House of the Cathedral. Please book your tickets here.

7.00pm: The current choir will perform a free concert in celebration of our 70th anniversary. The programme includes Duruflé's Requiem alongside a selection of pieces performed at the Singers' inaugural concerts on 17th February 1949 and 18th June 1950. Please book your (free) tickets here.
