Gloucester's foremost chamber choir

There are about thirty of us in The Saint Cecilia Singers, men and women, from a wide range of backgrounds and experience.  We aim for professional standards, and perform up to eight concerts a year with commitment and passion.  We demand a lot of our conductor and ourselves, presenting a wide and often challenging repertoire, and we hope this results in a rewarding and uplifting experience for the choir and for our audiences. Some samples of our repertoire can be played below:

If Ye Love Me

You can find a list of our recent concerts here, and you will see that it includes unaccompanied choral music from the Renaissance to the present day, often in eight parts. There are Evensongs and other sung services, not just at Gloucester Cathedral but on visits to Bath Abbey, Durham Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in recent years.  And you will see orchestral concerts too, such as the stunning performance under Stephen Layton as part of last year's Cheltenham Festival.

We have an active and effective committee, all singers, to run the choir's affairs.  We work on a financial plan that allows us to stage a large-scale orchestral concert of our own every three years.  We actively promote our concerts.  We discuss our plans openly at our AGM, so that everyone has a voice in what we are doing.

Our forthcoming concerts are listed on the Concerts  page, and you can also buy tickets from us .  You can learn more about our Conductors on their own page.
